“LIFE IS A JUNGLE” uses dance improvisation, live music and other sensorial means to create a narrative  of emotions that can be experienced and witnessed by blind, visually impaired & sighted people without audio description. Through new sensory realms, our focus is  directed towards a holistic use of the senses, which is often neglected due to the prioritization of the sense of sight. The piece investigates the different stages we  go through as human beings and examines various coping mechanisms we use  to deal with situations that feel overwhelming.

“It's not all bad here. It's not always difficult. But often it is. Though not all the time. And sometimes, we can hear the butterflies flying by. Then, the scent of ripe mangoes carried in by the morning breeze is so strong that it drifts  into the house. The coolness of the rain on the skin after the storm brings peace to the soul and the warm sunlight awakens the desire for more - for more life. But when the thickest branches take over and leave scratches on our skin - how do we get out? The big lamp in the garden must remain on, otherwise the stars will get lost.”

We are also pleased to inform you that the mobile information and guidance system 'MindTags' can be used via cell phone app during the performances; an application for blind, visually impaired and deaf-blind people that enables navigation at the venue (from the Poller Kirchweg train stop). The app must be downloaded in advance.
